when i was a kid i often heard lists read by broadcasters through radio or public speakers. they must been delegate lists of NPC & NPPCC and the Party Congress. very slow. very long. irregular patterns were formed by repetition of two or three syllables. the rhythms were altered by words in the brackets then always came back. i didn’t understood the meaning of these sounds. but felt directly that time was changed. everything was slower and not important any more. it’s not excessive to say this was a trance experience.
having interest to minimalism music was later during my youth days. but in another hand i also feel it cost too much according to my reality. and it requires certain social conditions such as quality of players, standard of recording industry, listening environment, etc. sometimes, i feel more exciting about its connections to primal music and rituals than a piece of insular work.
same feeling appears to indeterminacy composition as well. by comparison ready-made is more reasonable in this context. furthermore, i’m trying to understand people who are playing improvised music as a kind of ready-made as well. of course this is not easy to achieve. and this is another topic here.
in this piece i’ve tried to reach the standard of a professional broadcaster. and, by doing so, somehow, i have revisited my experience of part time job in radio station in my 20s.
